As most people know the day is when most people have panic attacks. Yet, you can still suffer from panic attacks while you sleep. There are ways to deal with nighttime panic attacks. What is the deal with panic attacks while you are sleeping?

Someone having a panic attack while they sleep will wake up in the middle of regular panic attack symptoms or when they awake in the morning. There is no rhyme or reason why; he or she will just wake up panicking. They may have chest pains, feel dizzy or be lightheaded. They can also have breathing difficulty and a rapid heartbeat. Waking up during a panic attack is its own special nightmare and sufferers can feel like they are losing control, or even dying. It is a very terrifying experience to wake up like this.

What Causes Nighttime Panic Attacks

So what is the treatment for panic attacks when sleeping? The treatment actually isn't much different then dealing with daytime panic attacks. The difference between night time attacks and daytime attacks is that it can be very difficult to find out what stressor is causing a night time attack. Many times nighttime attacks are the result of stress from work or a traumatic situation such as a death in the family, car accident, child-related accident, etc. The thing to remember with any panic attack, day or night, is to stay calm in both mind and body.

A How to List For Night Time Panic Attacks - Three Great Methods for Dealing With Nighttime Attacks

Treatment 1 - Self Massages

Giving yourself a massage is actually a great treatment for night time panic attacks. Having a massage first thing in the morning is also a good idea. When a person has a massage, their body becomes further relaxed, which allows them to handle stress that creeps up into their sleep whether it's through dreams or their subconscious.

Treatment 2 - Relaxation Tips

Deep breathing relaxation techniques are also a good way of helping someone with nighttime panic attacks. By learning to breath correctly a person utilizes the diaphragm more than their chest. Air is breathed in deeply and breathed out the same when breathing properly. When a person is able to do this, they'll focus on their breathing instead of the things that are stresses them out. This treatment for panic attacks when sleeping, when done right before bedtime, allows them to stay relaxed throughout the nighttime hours.

Treatment 3 - Meditation and/or Prayer

The third way to treat panic attacks at night is to meditate before going to sleep. Why does this help? This makes you more relaxed and also puts you in a positive frame of mind before getting into the bed.

Panic attacks are quite frightening to contend with. Someone undergoing a panic attack might feel like they are dying or even having a heart attack. Why does a panic attack make a person believe they are having a heart attack? The person's chest will tighten and their heart will pound wildly.

. It doesn't matter what the reason is; they only know that they must go to the restroom. Some people suffer from tightened muscles to the point of cramping up. Some people will sweat copiously or be short of breath. Some people may even suffer from most or all of these symptoms.

Why People Do Not Find the Best Treatment for Anxiety Attacks

Often times, people who suffer from panic attacks will seek assistance. Those people who opt not to seek help do it because they feel like they are going insane and don't want to share with anyone what they are feeling. Yet, without outside help, the problems will only get worse. A person who doesn't seek outside help may be unable to deal with his or her daily routine.

Picking a god list of the best treatments

Since no one person is the same, narrowing down the best treatment for panic attacks is going to change from one person to the next. But there are a lot of treatments available that have worked for thousands of people suffering from panic attacks. Which are the best options for people suffering from panic attacks?

Treatment 1 - Talk With A Therapist

The best treatment for panic attacks is to speak with a therapist about them. Therapy tries to discover the root causes behind panic attacks and cut the condition off at the source. One method is to examine your childhood to find the reason behind the panic attacks. When you have found the root cause behind the panic attacks you and your therapist can then work on fixing it. What makes this the best way of dealing with panic attacks? By identifying the underlining course the issue itself will be less scary and it is possible to end the fear behind them.

Treatment 2 - Relaxation Techniques

Using relaxation techniques can reduce the severity of your panic attacks. What makes that the right choice? It is recommended because people can learn to relax before having a panic attack. What does relaxation mean? Relaxation techniques help people concentrate on steady breathing which in turn helps them remain calm by distracting their attention.

What causes fear? Why does fear seem to cause some people to react irrationally while others go on without too many issues? What causes fear to paralyze a person from living their lives? Some people will focus on the fear, which lead to more problems. What are these problems ? For one thing it can lead to Panic Attacks and Anxiety Attacks. This is when a person will need to seek outside treatment such as a therapist to overcome what causes them fear.

If regular therapy does not seem to help a person suffering from fear then a therapist might prescribe medication to supplement the treatment into what causes fear. But any medicine should be used a for a short duration, but also for as long as is necessary to help the person trying to resolve what causes them fear. This means the person will use certain techniques that will help them to relax and eventually they may be able to wean off the medication.

What Causes Fear - Five Main Causes of Fear

Fear 1 - Social Situations

A lot of people have difficulty in everyday social situations. For instance, they may have an issue with being around other people. This kind of social awkwardness may come from childhood interactions or a later trauma that effected their ability to trust others. This has then turned into a desire to keep others away from them.

Fear 2 - Social Settings of Various Type

Fear can often be based on specific situations. In some cases people are simply frozen in place when they are asked to talk in front of an audience. This fear of public speaking usually comes from a bad experience.

Fear 3 - Being Near Animals

Animals are a major factor behind what causes fear for some folks. For example a man might not like being near dogs because he was bitten as a child. Man and Woman who had not grown up around dogs might also develop a strong fear of the animals.

Fear 4 - Insects like Arachnids

There are many other things people are afraid of then mammals. Many people are afraid of creatures that are a lot smaller and have a lot more legs. What's the most common fear in the insect world? That would be a spider, actually. Spiders have a tendency to come up on a person suddenly and get into small spaces quickly. A lot of people suffer an irrational fear of the cockroach as well. Cockroaches are also fond of showing up and surprising people.

Fear 5 - Being in an Enclosed Environment

Sometimes a person is afraid of being in an enclosed space. What causes fear such as this? This is usually due to an experience of being closed in an area for a significant length of time such as staying in a tornado shelter or closet during a tornado warning. Punishing children by putting them in small areas like closets can often lead to a fear of enclosed spaces in these children as adults. A fear of enclosed spaces has also been caused by getting trapped in an elevator when the power fails for a long time.

While a lot of people suffer form irrational fear there are a great many disparate causes of the condition. Despite the seriousness of sever fear it can be beaten with a good deal of time, effort, and help.

A lot of people feel like there is no hope, and no way to stop the effects of a panic attack when it happens. You already know how bad a panic attack can be but you do have hope. There is hope, however, and several simple steps can help you lessen or even stop a panic attack.

It is important to remember that panic attacks can begin for any number of reasons. You may have suffered from a traumatic event in you childhood for example. Of course things in later life can also cause panic attacks like car accidents or crime. But some people are just natural worriers who have never been able to cope well with stress and begin to have it manifest into panic attacks. Of course it panic attacks can also be set off by much more immediate events like car trouble, mortgage issues, or losing a job.

There are steps to stop panic attacks no matter what the cause. The root cause identified you can begin to move back to a normal life by critically examining the stressors in your life. Small stressful situations will no longer be a problem for you.

Simple Steps To Stop Panic Attacks

Step 1 - Identify the Trigger

The discovery of the root cause behind your panic attacks is the most important step. Among other things triggers for panic attacks can include certain kinds of people and animals. When you have identified what triggers your panic attacks you can then consider moving on to the next step in dealing with them.

Step 2 - Talk Your Way Through A Panic Attack

If you are seeking outside help for panic attacks you have probably already experienced one. You will probably be aware of the oncoming symptoms of a panic attack in that case. After identifying the oncoming symptoms you can then try to talk yourself through the panic attack. This can help you to remain calm while the symptoms come on, and therefore lessen the strength and length of the attack.

How do you "self talk"? As your panic attack ensues, you talk to yourself, saying that it is just panic attack, something you've been through before and dealt with. Talking also helps you breath regularly which will help calm you down. It will also be better if you try to breathe using you diaphragm.

Of course there are other methods for dealing with panic attacks before they happen. One way to do this is to stop being so hard on yourself and stop hoping for a rapid resolution to your problems. Be happy and gracious so that your stress won't lead to further pressure, which can cause your panic attacks. Quit smoking. If you drink alcohol or consume a lot of caffeine, consider reducing or eliminating these things.

Are you looking for ways to cope with your anxiety attacks? Do you want to know how to stop a panic attack? I used to fear having panic attacks from the first moment I woke up. I was at the end of my rope. My heart would pound and I was sweating uncontrollably. Was I having some kind of heart attack? I would even loose the feeling in my extremities.

It helps to learn a few simple methods for minimizing the excessive response occurring within your body. We just need a few starting points. These are three methods you can use to help bring your incidence of panic attacks down over time. Give them a try and see if they help you.

Losing control of your breathing can trigger an attack. People suffering with any type of panic disorder should learn to focus on better breathing habits. Learn to control your breathing at will. Force yourself to take slow and steady deep breaths and exhale completely. This helps push down the levels of stress hormones in your body just like what happens after you cry your eyes out. Remember your breathing.

Stretching "A build up of stress can result in a panic attack. Stretching will help ease the stress and relax your body. You'll see the benefits in your mindset too. You are more relaxed and you can handle new things. Regular stretching will also greatly reduce the strength of a panic attack. Stretching is a good way to keep in control of your body when you start to feel a panic attack coming on.

If you can find enough reasons to be grateful for all the wonderful things you do have in your live, you will reduce a little bit of the negative thought pattern habits that you may practice right now unknowingly. Spend some time coming up with everything positive in your life that you should be thankful for. Over time your brain will be conditioned to become more optimistic. Optimistic people experience much less self induced stress and anxiety. Hopefully that will lead to lower occurrences of your anxiety attacks.

Try being a little more proactive with your illness. If you can muster the determination to keep trying new methods, you are certain to eventually find something that works. Doctors can use all of the help they can get when treating the patient. Medicine combined with a willing patient is a combination that works.

Jack is a former <a href="http://anxietyinduceddepression.com/">anxiety and panic sufferer who publishes free information in an attempt to help other people who need it. You can find a lot of Jack's material online.

Here are 15 healthy positive coping skill exercises you should incorporate as habits in your life for relieving stress. Print them out and then post them in an area you will see while having a stressful episode.

You may find the exercise that works best for you by reading this list one-by-one. Rather than practicing any type of hurtful behavior while you are trying to cope with stress, try practicing some of the exercises as a healthy alternative. You can use these 15 coping skills exercises to help you redirect your mind away from any crisis you are presently experiencing.

Coping With depression-Anxiety

1. Change your surroundings by taking a long walk. You can wall in the park at the mall or along walking trails.

2. Make yourself feel better by listening to some feel good music that can lift your spirits. Avoid angry music, since it stimulates the negative feelings you are trying to overcome.

3. Call/text/email a SUPPORTIVE friend or family member. I emphasis supportive! When coping with anxiety attacks, sometimes friends and family members think they are helping us, but really they are hurting us. Find that special person you can trust.

4. Make yourself laugh, by watching your favorite comedy movie, DVD or video. You might collect some of your favorite funny shows when you are suffering through a stressful episode. Then sit down and watch them as you laugh your troubles away.

5. Treat yourself to something special. When you are feeling down, treat yourself to something that will make you feel better. Perhaps, something that takes you to happier time.

6. Take yourself out to lunch or invite a friend to go with you. I use to invite one of my best friends to breakfast. It was nice, because she was my one true friend I could trust and who I looked to for support. We always had a good visit.

7. Play a board or card game with yourself or a friend/family member. Even a computer game can be fun! This will help direct your mind away from what is upsetting you.

8. Take a break from therapy books and read a novel or other great non-therapy book. Take the time to be transported to another place and time by reading an interesting non-therapy book. Give yourself permission to take a therapy break.

9. Get you feelings out by journaling or drawing. This is an all time favorite of many individuals. You can write anything you feel or the experiences you are going through. You can choose to keep it private or you may want to share it in therapy. Drawing is a great release. You may want to get your own color crayons or pencils to work with.

10. Enjoy the unconditional love of a pet. Play with your pet or sit with them and feel the love. Take your dog for a walk, pet your cat and listen to it purr. You can even watch fish and gain serenity and peace.

11. Go for a relaxing bike ride on a riding trail. Most of the trails are hidden away from the roads and can transport you to another world. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature!

12. Join a gym and exercise anxiety and depression away. This not only changes your surroundings it also helps you do something great for yourself.
