arthritis literally means inflammation of joint. It affects around 35 million people in U.S.A alone. It is a degenerative disease affecting more women than men. Arthritis is the disease of the skeletal system generally affecting people in the age group 60-65.

Worn out cartilage in the joint causes arthritis. There is a shock absorbing tissue called cartilage in the joints that covers the ends of the bones to facilitate smooth movement of bones over each other. A healthy cartilage is thick enough to absorb the shock of the movement. When the cartilage is worn out or becomes thin, the bones rub against each other causing inflammation and pain. In due course the joint may lose it's shape and small bone growths called bone spurs can form at the edges of the bones. Pieces of cartilage can break off and drop into the joint space causing more pain. There are the types of arthritis namely osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is caused by genetic predisposition and affects more women than men. It is found that high heels worn by women might have contributed since pressure on joints increase when they are worn. It generally affects older people in the age group 60-65.

Rheumatoid arthritis is also caused by the genes, and is called whole body illness. It also affects more women than men and affects the younger people in the age group 20-30. It causes fatigue and anemia. This type of arthritis worsens quickly and may permanently damage the joint within a year ,so early treatment is very important to avoid damage to the joints and to stop the progression of the disease.

There is no known arthritis cure but only supportive care to reduce pain and to delay the progression of the disease. The following tips may help. Consume more fish oil since it contains omega-3 fatty acids which have anti inflammatory properties and may ease the pain. Add lots of vegetables to your diet such as tomato, carrots, spinach which contain lots of vitamin-c and beta-carotene which might help in slowing down the progression of the disease. Take vitamin-e and vitamin-d supplements. Exercise regularly after consulting your doctor. It is found that brisk walking and jogging actually helps in controlling the disease. Join support group to get support and advice.Above all, be positive and face the challenge boldly.

Learn about arthritis cure and also aboutarthritis

When a person suffers from hip arthritis, he or she will, under most circumstances, suffer from a condition known as osteoarthritis which a very common form of hip arthritis, and which is sometimes also known as wear-and-tear arthritis and even degenerative joint disease. This form of hip arthritis is characterized by gradual damage to the cartilage of a persons joints and when the cartilage that protects the joints becomes worn out due to such a form of arthritis, the bones become exposed in the persons joints resulting in a great deal of distress.

Though any one can be afflicted by hip arthritis, it is routinely associated with folks that are 50 years old or older, and the difficulty is also more typically seen in patients that are oversized, and also that when the same person starts to shed pounds there's a steady improvement in the condition and symptoms of hip arthritis begin to fade away. Doctors also believe that hip arthritis can be caused due to genetics and so if you belong to a family in which somebody has this form of arthritis, then you may be in danger of afflicted by the same.

There are certain other factors too that can cause a person to suffer from hip arthritis and these include having trauma with the hip and even because of fracturing of bones that are located close to joints. There are certain symptoms that you will notice if you are suffering from hip arthritis and these symptoms tend to get worse as the condition deteriorates further.

However, it is also not the case that the symptoms will become worse with the passage of time and it can occur that a patient has some months that are good as far as their condition is concerned, while other months may turn out to be bad, and symptoms may also are affected because of changes in the weather conditions. Thus, hip arthritis symptoms noticed on a particular day may not appear on other days, and they may also not be an accurate representation of the way in which the condition is progressing.

Common symptoms of hip arthritis include pain when performing activities, limitation to how much a person can move about, hips becoming stiff and needing to limp while walking. It is also recommended to get treated as soon as the symptoms appear, and the treatments can either are very basic in some instances, while other instances may even warrant surgery to be performed. In any case, you will need to get expert medical advice to know what the best treatments for your particular case of hip arthritis warrants.

It is very worrying if you think you have arthritis. In today's computer age we can find an enormous amount of information about any subject, which can be helpful, but also frightening. There are many sources of information from which we are able to find out about all the details of the disease in great depth. However we must be careful that we do not get so much information about the disease that we question the fact that we have it and instead imagine that we are suffering from something much worse. We must examine all the symptoms of arthritis and realise that we do not have to have all of them to suffer from the disease.

When we hear the word arthritis, the image of elderly people with joint problems probably pops into our head. However, in more scientific terms, what is arthritis? Most varieties of arthritis create aches and enlargement of your joints. Joints are simply locations where two different bones meet. Examples include your knee or elbow. Within time, a swollen joint can turn into extremely impaired. Particular forms of arthritis can even cause difficulties involving your organs including your heart or eyes. Among the various types of arthritis, some exclusively affect children, or are related to ones immune system or aging.

After learning what is arthritis, you should determine if you have it yourself. In this process, pain can be your friend. Without feeling pain, we would not have warning signs that we have particular illnesses or diseases. In the case of arthritis, if you are experiencing constant swelling, heat, weight loss, pain, breathing difficulty, or redness, you may have arthritis. Nonetheless, experiencing arthritis pain and discomfort does not imply that no relief exists.

If you indeed have arthritis, you may have either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis--two of the most typical forms of the disease. Osteoarthritis often is a consequence of aging, and often is affecting one's knees, hips and fingers. On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your body's defence system malfunctions. This is affecting bones, joints, and even internal organs. Rheumatoid arthritis could lead you to feel exhausted or sick, and can make a fever.

After learning what's arthritis, if you think that you'll have the illness, visit a doctor immediately! Only a doctor is qualified to figure out if you have arthritis, and how it should be dealt with. You must inform the doctor about what kind of discomfort you are experiencing. Through blood tests and x-rays, the doctor can identify which sort of arthritis you are suffering from, if indeed you do.

If the doctor can confirm that you indeed have arthritis, he can then debate the ideal treatment available. The physician may prescribe medicine that will treat rigidity, soreness and aches.

If you still be afflicted by discomfort after taking arthritis drugs, you may also rest the distended joint, engage in some light stretching exercises, take a shower with warm water, or place an ice pack on the distended area. If those treatments together with the medicine don't supply adequate relief, contact your health practitioner.

At that juncture, you may need to consider surgery. Your doctor can explain what's arthritis surgery. After we find out what is arthritis, we should establish if personally we are suffering from the illness. Then, if required, we will take acceptable steps to put ourselves on the path to relief and contentment.

by Carol Bell

Prior to choosing which is the best arthritis treatment for you to use, you should find out about the disease, how it will affect you and all the different treatments available. Once you understand how arthritis affects your body you will be able to decide which is the best treatment to use.

Arthritis affects millions of people around the world and is in fact one of the most common diseases. It affects the bones and in particular the joints of the body. There are three main types of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. The treatment you will be offered will differ depending on the type of arthritis you have.

A proper diagnosis has to be made in terms of determining which specific type of arthritis a person is suffering from before arthritis treatment can be prescribed, and this is why it is so important that any person, at the first sign of any arthritis symptoms, get in to see their doctor right away so that a proper diagnosis and assessment can be made as promptly as possible.

Arthritis is a very painful disease especially if left untreated. Swollen and painful joints make it difficult to do even simple tasks such as opening jars or walking. Care should be taken to avoid falls where bones may be broken.

Once your doctor has confirmed which type of arthritis you have you are able to take a close look at the different treatment options and decide which one is the best one for you. A very gentle treatment to try first is to use a cream or gel which will calm the skin. It does this by applying either warmth or cooling and thus distracts you from feeling the pain.

Often this will not be enough and stronger remedies or medications will have to be prescribed by your doctor. Many different medications or drugs can be tried to treat or lessen the effects of the disease. Steroids, disease modifying drugs, anti-tumour necrosis factor and strong painkillers will be prescribed either singularly or as a combination treatment.

You may already be taking painkillers for your arthritis but if you need a stronger version your doctor will be able to supply you a prescription for a more potent version.

Regardless of which method of treatment is recommended to you, it is very important that you keep in constant contact with your doctor so that you can keep them abreast of your condition and whether it is improving or worsening so that further steps can be taken, if necessary.

arthritis is a collective name for many diseases, which normally attack the joint and surrounding area. There are dozens of different types of arthritis, each with its own cause. Arthritis is a leading health problem among all demographic groups, although significant and sometimes surprising disparities exist.

Arthritis is an increasing issue for an ageing population, studies indicate an alarmingly high number of reported cases of arthritis by people around the age of retirement. These debilitating conditions collectively termed as arthritis, effect around one fifth of the adult population. The risk of developing symptoms of arthritis will increase with age if left unchecked, with those over the age of 70 having only a 30% chance of escaping arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disorder disease. RA may not be a permanent issue with many arthritics reporting periods of remission, having said that, left untreated rheumatoid arthritis will remain underlying and inevitably re-appear when triggered.

The term autoimmune describes a condition which causes one's own immune system to mistakenly attack bodily tissues. In the case of RA this metabolic condition is known to attack and inflame the joint lining referred to as the synovium, Inflammation of the synovium causes extreme pain and swelling.

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Common symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis include painful stiff and swollen joints, untreated and progressed cases of RA may include the deformation of joints and cartilage damage.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Attacks Symmetrically.

Rheumatoid arthritis can often attack symmetrical joints simultaneously, for example an arthritic suffering with RA may experience symptoms in both hands, or in both hips at the same time. Rheumatoid arthritis has the ability to travel through the blood stream and may attack more and more joints, or in fact other bodily organs.

How to Really Cure your Own Rheumatoid arthritis!

Although all forms of arthritis are considered diseases in their own right, they are in fact the body's way of reveling an underlying or perhaps many underlying problems, rheumatoid arthritis is a symptom and has one or more contributing factors. Modern arthritis drugs are not designed to seek out the underlying factors, or in fact to treat them. Drug therapies offer only short term symptomatic relief & may actually make the condition worse with prolonged use, due mainly to the chemicals and toxins which build up in the body and agitate the immune system.

An autoimmune diseases is difficult to treat with drugs, due to the many different factors involved, anyone trying to treat their own RA will only be successful if they can address the following underlying problems.

* The toxins (many left by drug therapies) must be expelled from one's body.

* Address bacterial and fungal problems associated with the gastroIntestinal tract.

* Flush the kidneys.

* Naturally remove arthritis triggers (even the ones which are not apparent).

* Keep RA inflammation under control, without using drugs.

* Remove heavy metal deposits trapped in the body.

* Address excessively high uric acid levels and the body's PH balance.

* Address the problem of damaged tissue and bone.

* Reduce the amount of excess free radicals in the body.

* Strengthen the natural immune system.

* Lose excess body weight.

* Lose excess body weight.

* Loosen and lubricate the joints.

Impossible you might think?, You would be half right, indeed it is basically impossible for today's drug treatments to have any effect on these underlying factors, however, from experience i can tell you that by making a number of simple life changes, and using an alternative approach all of these possible underlying contributing factors can be addressed successfully.

Natural practices do work and have been proven to reduce pain, inflammation, and stiffness with dramatic & safe results, an alternative practice could be the answer to one's RA, and shouldn't be discounted. Sometimes the simplest option might just be the best.

It would be in your best interests to visit your doctor for a check-up if you have noticed that there is aching in your joints, physical changes occurring in the joints, or if your joints are becoming overly stiff or deformed. These symptoms could indicate that you have contracted rheumatoid arthritis. Problems with the endocrine glands, malnutrition problems, and infections are also warning signs for rheumatoid arthritis. This illness can make it difficult for you to carry out some simple everyday activities.

Poisons And Viruses

Rheumatoid arthritis has also been known to be caused by poisons and viruses as well as bacterial toxins; however, there need not necessarily be pus or other germs present in the fluids of the patient's joints.

Other reasons why a person can develop this condition are emotional or physical shock; injuries and fatigue and even because of having been exposed to dampness and cold weather. What's more, women are the more likely to suffer from rheumatoid arthritis as compared to men.

Rheumatoid arthritis is commonly believed to begin soon after childhood years have been completed and just prior to reaching the forties. There are however, also few cases when the disease affects people in their sixties and seventies ??" and, the disease (whichever age it begins in) is slow to develop and not a sudden occurrence. To begin with, patients that are developing rheumatoid arthritis will start to experience low fever, weakened state in all parts of the body as well as will experience headaches.

Rheumatoid arthritis also affects the fingers and knees at first and then affects the shoulders and wrists, and the ankles as well as elbows. Sometimes, it attacks each and every joint and there is also inflammation that can cause mild to even severe aching. In any case, rheumatoid arthritis will touch the joints before affecting the rest of the body.

Rheumatoid arthritis is also quite serious because of its ability to cause deformities to the body. These occur because of atrophy in the muscles and tendons that forces them to contract. This makes the muscles and tendons bend in unnatural ways, forming deformities.

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is another type of rheumatoid arthritis and its early warning signs are high temperature and of course, it affects people when they are still very young including children aged no more than six years.

Some poisons, viruses, and bacterial toxins have also been noted as causes of the development of rheumatoid arthritis. This can be true even if the fluids of the joints do not contain germs or pus.

Physical or emotional shock can also cause a person to begin to experience symptoms related to rheumatoid arthritis. Statistically, rheumatoid arthritis affects more women than men. Sometimes, the disease can be caused by fatigue, injury, or exposure to cold, damp weather.

It is currently believed that rheumatoid arthritis begins to develop not long after childhood but before a person enters their forties. Of course, there are cases that differ from this. Some people are in their sixties or seventies when they develop rheumatoid arthritis. Some of the earliest warning signs that could indicate that a person is beginning to contract rheumatoid arthritis are a low grade fever, headaches, and general feeling of weakness all over the body.

The knees and fingers are the first joints to be affected by rheumatoid arthritis. Following them are the shoulders and wrists and then the elbows and ankles. Rheumatoid arthritis affects the joints before it begins bring about symptoms related to any other body parts. In some situations, all of the joints of the body will be attacked by this disease, resulting in inflammation and an aching feeling that can be anywhere from mild to severe.
